‘Technique is important. I think that if most people who called themselves poets were tightrope-walkers, they’d be dead.’  – Michael Longley, (via Ian Duhig).

During April I’ll be writing and publishing a poem a day to celebrate National Poetry Month

The poems will appear on a blog here

The idea for this came from Carrie Etter, whose blog can be found here , but is also a way of starting off something I’ve been meaning to set up for some time to deal with the vast, uneven pile of poetry I have accumulated over the last 25 years.

All the poems will be written from scratch, or at the very least, worked up from material in this year’s notebook, so it’ll be a fairly intense exercise, particularly since my pre-school age son will be with me for most of the first fortnight.

It might not work out, but it’ll be interesting to try.
